Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Lions vs. Groesbeck Goats

The Franklin Lions will take on the Groesbeck Goats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 18 games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin took on Centerville on Monday. The Lions put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Groesbeck came up short against Iola on Tuesday and fell 8-3.

Franklin pushed their record up to 25-3-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Groesbeck, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9-1.

Franklin beat Groesbeck 7-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Goats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
