Basketball Recap: Northside - Pinetown Beats Lejeune for Their Sixth Straight Win

Northside - Pinetown had won five straight games and Olivia Jane Cahoon did her part to make it six on Wednesday. The Northside - Pinetown Panthers blew past the Lejeune Devil Pups 65-27 thanks in part to Cahoon, who went 10 of 16 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Tatianna Moore was another key player, going 8 for 13 en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

Despite the loss, Lejeune saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Scarlett McLean posted five points and eight steals. That's the most steals McLean has posted since back in February of 2024. Alyssa Arce also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Northside - Pinetown pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Lejeune, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside - Pinetown will head out to face off against Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside - Pinetown's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Southside's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lejeune, they will head out on the road to take on Pamlico County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pamlico County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.
