Football Game Preview: Wheatland Pirates vs. Marysville Indians + How To Watch

The Wheatland Pirates will square off against the Marysville Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Wheatland will be strutting in after a victory while Marysville will be coming in after a loss.

Wheatland will bounce into Friday's game after beating Colfax, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pirates strolled past the Falcons with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 51-33. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

One reason for the win was Wheatland's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Colfax's QB won't forget Tyler Rivers anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Falcons' side was Colton Burns, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Marysville and Bear River, and Bear River kept the tradition alive. The Indians took a 14-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins on Friday. The matchup marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wheatland will have to contain Andrew Salguero as he made an impact in Marysville's last game. He picked up 147 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 39 yards.

Marysville's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Wheatland, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wheatland has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 219.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Marysville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 263 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Wheatland lost to Marysville at home by a decisive 22-6 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Pirates, Dennis Syders (who rushed for 105 yards and three scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
