Basketball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

Washington lost against Hempstead back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the Washington Warriors and the Hempstead Mustangs didn't end well, with the Washington Warriors falling 70-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Mustangs are ranked 236th).

Washington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Hempstead, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Washington will host Waterloo West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington is facing Waterloo West at the right time seeing as Waterloo West is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hempstead, they are taking a road trip to square off against Xavier at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
