Basketball Recap: Tuscola Takes a Loss

Tuscola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Franklin Panthers and fell 82-30. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while the Panthers are ranked 159th).

Tuscola's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Chouinard, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Chris Wells, who posted seven points.

Franklin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Jack Teesateskie out in front who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points. Noah Brannon was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Tuscola's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Franklin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Tuscola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-61 defeat against North Henderson on the 28th. Franklin has also already played their next contest, a 75-62 victory against Pisgah on the 28th.
