Basketball Recap: South Effingham Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Hayden Johanson and Alayiah Lewis

South Effingham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-33 heartbreaker at the hands of the McDonough Warhawks.

South Effingham's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alayiah Lewis, who posted five points along with six boards and three steals, and Hayden Johanson, who put up 14 points and six rebounds. Johanson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

South Effingham's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for McDonough, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

South Effingham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-31 win against Southeast Bulloch on the 4th. As for McDonough, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-34 loss against Creekside Christian Academy on the 3rd.
