Football Recap: Homer-Center Starts Season with Win on the Road

Homer-Center had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Northern Cambria Colts 24-21. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Colts are ranked 203rd).

Carson Arone had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 70 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 87 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (153).

Homer-Center didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Northern Cambria to a completion percentage of just 50%. Given Arone's standout performance, it's clear the Colts' secondary just wasn't on the same level.
