Basketball Recap: Augusta E Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ben Briley and Jude Brouwer

Augusta E was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Milledgeville Athletic Club Bears. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-55 two weeks ago.

Jude Brouwer and Ben Briley certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Brouwer dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Briley dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 boards. That was a full 42.4% of Augusta E's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Pete Heusel, who put up seven points.

Branden Conner was his usual excellent self, putting up 26 points for Milledgeville Athletic Club. The team also got some help courtesy of Greyson Rogers, who earned 22 points.

Augusta E's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Milledgeville Athletic Club, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Augusta E has already played their next match, a 69-61 loss against Providence Athletic Club on the 28th. As for Milledgeville Athletic Club, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-54 win against Covington Academy on the 30th.
