Soccer Game Preview: Mecklenburg County vs. Martinsville

The Mecklenburg County Phoenix will venture away from home to square off against the Martinsville Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Martinsville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mecklenburg County, who comes in off a win.

Mecklenburg County will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Monday, then bounced right back against Halifax County on Wednesday. The Phoenix never let the Comets get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Mecklenburg County's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Martinsville came up short against Floyd County on Tuesday, falling 6-2. The loss put an end to Martinsville's undefeated start to the season.

Keandre Beale and Steven Morales scored both of Martinsville's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Mecklenburg County now has a winning record of 1-0-2. As for Martinsville, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.
