Basketball Recap: Bear River Drops Season-High Score on Pierce

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bear River). They walked away with a 75-68 win over the Pierce Bears on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bruins.

Bear River's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Donley, who went 14 of 25 en route to 38 points and five assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Donley has scored at least a third of Bear River's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Milami, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 22 points.

Donley wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Bear River was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Pierce lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Devin Garcia, who went 12 for 24 on his way to 29 points and three steals. Garcia has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Guynn, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Bear River has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Pierce, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Bear River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-57 victory against Hillsdale on the 28th. As for Pierce, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-47 loss against Fortuna on the 28th.
