Baseball Recap: Roxana Find Success

While Roxana's victory against Marquette Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Shells sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Explorers on Wednesday. The Shells have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Explorers, too.

Landon Sitze looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games.

At the plate, Max Autery was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten matches.

Roxana is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Marquette Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roxana will challenge Nashville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marquette Catholic, they will square off against Staunton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
