Softball Recap: Opp Has No Trouble Against Pike County

Opp never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Pike County Bulldogs with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jaidyn Ivey was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last six matches. Another player making a difference was Bradleigh Lanier, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Opp hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pike County struck out 12 times.

Opp pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pike County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Opp will face off against Headland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Pike County, they will challenge Straughn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
