Softball Recap: Lumberton Takes a Loss

Lumberton fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Topsail on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Topsail by a score of 2-1. Lumberton just can't catch a break and has now endured four losses in a row.

Jaelyn Hammond made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Topsail, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

Lumberton has already played their next game, a 22-0 victory against Douglas Byrd on the 10th. As for Topsail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-0 win against North Brunswick on the 10th.
