Basketball Game Preview: Fort Cobb-Broxton Mustangs vs. Amber-Pocasset Panthers

Fort Cobb-Broxton and Amber-Pocasset are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Fort Cobb-Broxton Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Amber-Pocasset Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Fort Cobb-Broxton got the win against Central by a conclusive 48-26. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Bronchos are ranked 446th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Amber-Pocasset earned a 54-44 victory over Alex on Tuesday.

Amber-Pocasset's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points per game. As for Fort Cobb-Broxton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Fort Cobb-Broxton was able to grind out a solid victory over Amber-Pocasset when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 61-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Cobb-Broxton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
