Volleyball Recap: Independence Has No Trouble Against Columbia

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Independence had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Columbia Raiders as they made off with a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Independence was: they took every set by at least 17 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-8, 25-8.

Madelyn Mudra went supernova, getting nine aces and eight digs. Those nine aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Pichert, who had ten digs and two assists.

They weren't the only good servers: Independence was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matchups.

Independence's record now sits at 16-6. As for Columbia, with the defeat, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 13-11.

As of now, neither Independence nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
