Baseball Recap: St. George's Takes a Loss

St. George extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 24 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They fell 7-2 to Middlesex. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 8-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

St. George's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baker Whisnand, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Harry Pachios also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

As for Middlesex, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13. Seven seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Middlesex's side, Charlie Driscoll was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Driscoll has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Warzynski, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Middlesex: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Thomas Donahue, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As of now, neither St. George's nor Middlesex have any future games scheduled.
