Softball Recap: May River Continues Road Dominance on Friday

May River entered their tilt with Beaufort on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-1 back in March.

Olivia Nagel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Savannah Johns, who scored a run while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Addison Roppelt was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

Johns wasn't the only one making solid contact: May River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

May River's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Beaufort, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8.

Coincidentally, May River and Beaufort will both be playing Colleton County the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd, while the Sharks will host them at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th.
