Basketball Recap: Zakyren Howard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West St. John over Jefferson RISE Charter

West St. John lost against Jefferson RISE Charter back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The West St. John Rams fell to Jefferson RISE Charter 60-55. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West St. John lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was ZaKyren Howard, who posted 16 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Jahavon Grows was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Jefferson RISE Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avan Richardson out in front who went 5-for-9 en route to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Richardson, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 15 points and five assists.

West St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Jefferson RISE Charter, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-19 record this season.

West St. John didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-45 loss against Central Private on the 20th. As for Jefferson RISE Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-56 defeat against Thomas Jefferson on the 20th.
