Basketball Recap: Aaliyah Humphrey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wetumpka over Alabama Christian Academy

Wetumpka lost against Alabama Christian Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wetumpka Indians took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alabama Christian Academy Eagles.

Wetumpka's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Humphrey, who went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points along with eight boards and six assists. Humphrey is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Logan Banks, who posted five points in addition to 15 rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Wetumpka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 21 consecutive games.

Wetumpka's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Alabama Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-4.

Wetumpka will head out on the road to square off against Percy Julian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Percy Julian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Alabama Christian Academy has already played their next match (against Dallas County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
