Preview: Hartsville Red Foxes vs. West Florence Knights

Hartsville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the West Florence Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Hartsville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to the Chiefs. While losing is never fun, Hartsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Chiefs are ranked 46th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Mccoy Harry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shahquan Pendergrass, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, West Florence's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Wilson, falling 66-37. West Florence has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Hartsville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for West Florence, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.

Hartsville was able to grind out a solid victory over the Knights in their previous meeting back in January, winning 47-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hartsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
