Basketball Recap: Lucai Anderson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Trinity Christian over Roosevelt

Trinity Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Roosevelt on Friday. The Trinity Christian Lions took a 66-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roosevelt Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Trinity Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucai Anderson, who went 10 of 23 en route to 28 points. That was a full 45.9% of Trinity Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jet Naegele, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Trinity Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Roosevelt was led to victory by Kenson Anderson and Isaiah Johnson. Anderson made all 6 shots he took to post 20 points along with five assists and five steals, while Johnson made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points in addition to eight boards and five blocks. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Harris, who had six points along with five boards and three blocks.

Trinity Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Roosevelt, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Trinity Christian will challenge Southwest Christian School at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Trinity Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.5 points per game this season. As for Roosevelt, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-40 win against Pebble Hills on the 28th.
