Softball Recap: Mulberry Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Mulberry proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 15) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Lake Gibson Braves 7-6. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Laura Robinson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lorianys Castanon Cruz, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. A'Lejah Washington was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Mulberry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mulberry's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Lake Gibson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mulberry will host DeSoto County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeSoto County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Lake Gibson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Discovery at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Lake Gibson has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
