Bridgeton is 2-8 against Millville since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Bridgeton pushed their score all the way to 76 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 88-76 to Salem. Bridgeton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jameel Purnell put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 17 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for nine straight games. Richard Mills was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Millville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a tough 70-44 loss at the hands of Lower Cape May. While losing is never fun, Millville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Lower Cape May is ranked 105th).
Bridgeton's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Millville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
Bridgeton might still be hurting after the 68-45 loss they got from Millville when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Bridgeton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
