Basketball Game Preview: Ballantyne Ridge Wolves vs. Olympic Trojans

The Ballantyne Ridge Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Olympic Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ballantyne Ridge has now lost 16 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 4.

Ballantyne Ridge is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Ardrey Kell on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ballantyne Ridge was beaten by Ardrey Kell 74-44. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Knights are ranked 47th).

Olympic has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 64-57 to South Mecklenburg on Friday.

Ballantyne Ridge will have to contain Maurice Sabb as he made an impact in Olympic's last game. He went 7 for 8 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was JD Terrell, who posted ten points and eight assists.

Even though they lost, Olympic was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Mecklenburg only posted 12 assists.

Olympic's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Ballantyne Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Ballantyne Ridge lost to Olympic on the road by a decisive 71-56 margin in their previous matchup on January 3rd. Can Ballantyne Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
