Softball Recap: Dowagiac Extends Winning Streak to Three

Dowagiac strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the South Haven Rams. For the Chieftains, this counts as revenge for the 15-0 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2018.

Bree Campbell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 18 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marlie Carpenter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Claire Hess was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Dowagiac's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season. As for South Haven, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Dowagiac beat the Rams by a score of 11-9 later that day.
