Baseball Recap: Blacksburg Makes It Ten in a Row on the Road

Blacksburg proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the William Byrd Terriers 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted since March 18th.

Max Matthews and Major Marshall did most of the damage at the plate: Matthews went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Marshall went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Reese Tysor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Blacksburg pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for William Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
