Softball Game Preview: Hallsville Bobcats vs. Grapevine Mustangs

For the second straight game, Hallsville will face off against Grapevine. The Bobcats will host the Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hallsville 2.3, Grapevine 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Hallsville heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Grapevine by a score of 2-1. The Bobcats' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

For Grapevine's part, Bella MacMahon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. MacMahon has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bella Vaquera was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Gisele Rayngay was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Grapevine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hallsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 35-5-1.

Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hallsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384. However, it's not like Grapevine struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
