Preview: Clarkson/Leigh Patriots vs. Shelby-Rising City Huskies
Having just played yesterday, the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Shelby-Rising City Huskies at 12:30 p.m. on December 29th. Clarkson/Leigh is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
On Thursday, Clarkson/Leigh was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-47 to Fullerton.
Despite their defeat, Clarkson/Leigh saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Korbin Lemburg, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Tucker Matthies was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Even though they lost, Clarkson/Leigh were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-37, which was the final score in Shelby-Rising City's tilt against Fillmore Central on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Shelby-Rising City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Fillmore Central is ranked sixth).
Clarkson/Leigh's record is now 0-8. Shelby-Rising City's record now sits at 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Clarkson/Leigh against Shelby-Rising City in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 62-18 win. With Clarkson/Leigh ahead 35-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
