Recap: Liberty-Benton Eagles vs. Kenton Wildcats
The Liberty-Benton Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Kenton on Tuesday as Liberty-Benton made off with a 70-49 victory. Given Liberty-Benton's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Kenton is ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lauren Gerken continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Corra Dehart, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Liberty-Benton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Kenton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty-Benton will challenge Bellevue at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kenton will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Bluffton is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
