Basketball Recap: Lynnwood Takes a Loss

If Lynnwood was riding high fresh off their 69-43 takedown of Jackson last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lynnwood Royals came up short against the Ballard Beavers on Wednesday, falling 66-42. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Lynnwood saw an underclassman step up: freshman Nina Wilson posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shifa Hanchinamani, who put up nine points.

Lynnwood's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Ballard, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lynnwood will take on Edmonds-Woodway at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lynnwood is facing Edmonds-Woodway at the right time seeing as Edmonds-Woodway is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Ballard has already played their next contest (against Franklin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
