Softball Recap: Marion County Mustangs vs. Brashear Tigers
Marion County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of the Brashear Tigers by a score of 4-3. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Kennedy Hathaway was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Sam Kindhart made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Brashear, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
