            Baseball Recap: Riverside Pirates vs. Nyssa Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Umatilla, Riverside was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Nyssa Bulldogs, sneaking past  7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Pirates have posted  since April 12, 2024.
 Cooper Cemore made a splash no matter where he played. He  struck out six batters over  3.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Cemore was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances with one  stolen base and one  run.

 Cemore wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Cougar Philippi, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs and one  double. Philippi has become a key player for Riverside: the team is 4-1 when he posts  at  least  two  runs, but 0-8 otherwise.  Payton Thomas also deserves some recognition as  he  brought in his first  RBI of the season.
Riverside's win  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 4-9. As for Nyssa,  they are  on  an  eight-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Riverside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
