Softball Recap: Molalla Takes a Loss

Molalla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Estacada Rangers, falling 16-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-2 loss back in April.

Madison Shultz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Kalea Lopes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Molalla's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Estacada, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Molalla will host Crook County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cowboys have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Estacada, they will be playing at home against Gladstone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Gladiators will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Rangers surely won't give up without a fight.
