The Caravel Academy Buccaneers will square off against the Polytech Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Caravel Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Red Lion Christian Academy on Thursday. The Buccaneers were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Lions. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kaley Arrowsmith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Abby Russell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Paisley Massey, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Polytech faced Smyrna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 19-13 margin over the Eagles.
Emma Shelton and Kha'Lyn Tilghman did most of the damage at the plate: Shelton fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-6, while Tilghman went a perfect 6-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Shelton also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Danica Humphries was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Polytech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Caravel Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Polytech, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Polytech's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Caravel Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Polytech, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Caravel Academy keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Everything went Caravel Academy's way against Polytech when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Caravel Academy made off with a 10-1 win. Will the Buccaneers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
