Football Recap: St. Raphael Academy Falls Short of Bishop Hendricken in the Playoffs + How To Watch

St. Raphael Academy and Bishop Hendricken squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but St. Raphael Academy had to settle for second. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 23-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Saints were not able to get on the board.

Tashaad Brown threw for 133 yards on 12 of 22 attempts. Brendan Cardoso was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards. On the ground, Johnny Germain rushed for 73 yards.

Bishop Hendricken was led to victory by Isaiah Brito and Ryan Santo. Brito threw for 224 yards and two TDs on only 13 passes, while Santo picked up 86 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Brito a new career-high in passer rating (151.4).

St. Raphael Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Bishop Hendricken, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Raphael Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tolman at 5:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Bishop Hendricken, they will challenge North Kingstown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hawks 14.5, the Skippers 13.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
