Softball Recap: Caston Drops Highest Score of Season Against Oregon-Davis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caston). They were the clear victors by a 24-3 margin over the Oregon-Davis Bobcats on Thursday. With that victory, the Comets brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Natalie Warner was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Myli Rude was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylee Logan, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Caston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

The win snapped Caston's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-10 record. As for Oregon-Davis, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caston will host LaVille at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oregon-Davis, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Judson-San Pierre at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
