Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Petoskey). Their defense stepped up to hand the Alpena Wildcats a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Petoskey's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Alpena are ranked 251st).

Petoskey's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three contests. As for Alpena, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Petoskey will square off against Gaylord at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alpena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
