Volleyball Recap: Tuscarawas Valley Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Tuscarawas Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Sandy Valley Cardinals with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

While Tuscarawas Valley won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-22.

Leah Howard was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 18 digs and two aces. Howard is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cali Eckinger, who had five digs and five aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Landry Little, who had 25 assists.

The win got Tuscarawas Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Sandy Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Tuscarawas Valley will host Claymont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandy Valley, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Edison on the 6th.
