Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty lost against Jefferson Forest back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Liberty Minutemen fell 56-46 to the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ayden Padgett almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. What's more, Padgett also racked up six steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Evan Lee, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Jefferson Forest, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Liberty has already played their next game, a 69-44 defeat against Liberty Christian on the 7th. As for Jefferson Forest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-45 loss against Glass on the 7th.
