Baseball Game Preview: St. Albans Red Dragons vs. Spring Valley Timberwolves

The St. Albans Red Dragons will square off against the Spring Valley Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

St. Albans' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past South Charleston 8-0. The Red Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Spring Valley got the win against South Charleston on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-4. The Timberwolves are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fourth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Cole Adkins looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Brody Spencer was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Cole Ferguson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Spring Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.

St. Albans pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Spring Valley, their record is now 8-2.

St. Albans skirted past Spring Valley 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Dragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
