Basketball Recap: GEO Next Generation Tigers vs. West Feliciana Saints
After flying high against Capitol last Saturday, GEO Next Generation came back down to earth. The GEO Next Generation Tigers received a blow on Monday as they fell 46-28 to the West Feliciana Saints.
Despite the defeat, GEO Next Generation saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ivoryana Powell posted ten points.
West Feliciana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ariannah Smith led the charge by going 6 of 12 en route to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samaria Berry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.
GEO Next Generation's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for West Feliciana, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.
GEO Next Generation wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 36-33 defeat against Abramson on the 15th. West Feliciana has also already played their next game (against McKinley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
