Baseball Recap: South Allegheny Find Success

While South Allegheny put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for South Park. The Gladiators sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gladiators have posted since March 27th.

Not much got past Hunter Fulmer, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep South Park off the board. Fulmer also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Allegheny is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, South Allegheny's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Josh Nesky, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

South Allegheny is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for South Park, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Allegheny will take on Steel Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for South Park, they will challenge South Fayette at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
