Basketball Game Preview: Vina Red Devils vs. Marion County Red Raiders

The Vina Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Marion County Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Vina will be strutting in after a win while Marion County will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Vina turned things around against Tharptown on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 40-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted since December 28, 2023.

Braxtyn Quinn and Claire McCarley were among the main playmakers for Vina as the former posted ten points and three steals and the latter had ten points. Quinn has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Marion County's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jasper.

Vina's victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-22. As for Marion County, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

Vina was dealt a bruising 60-26 defeat at the hands of Marion County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Vina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
