Baseball Game Preview: Chatham Central Bears vs. Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers

The Chatham Central Bears will head out to face off against the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chatham Central has three straight victories, Bartlett Yancey has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Chatham Central proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 13) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Bartlett Yancey. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 29, 2024.

Chatham Central let Brett Phillips and Reid Albright run wild. Phillips scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5, while Albright scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Phillips a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Brewer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Chatham Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Chatham Central's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Bartlett Yancey, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
