Football Recap: Farmington Does not Make It Easy on Layton's Passing Game

Farmington extended their road winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Drew Love. The Phoenix enjoyed a cozy 26-10 win over the Layton Lancers on Wednesday with plenty of help from Love, who rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He has become a key player for Farmington: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise.

One reason for the win was Farmington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Isaac Hogge, Alex Peterson, and Brandon Olson, who each picked up one sack apiece.

The victory got Farmington back to even at 5-5. As for Layton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Farmington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lone Peak at 3:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Phoenix's defense better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 29.8 points per game this season. As for Layton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-16 victory against Cedar Valley on the 24th.
