Recap: Milken Wildcats vs. Laguna Blanca Owls
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Milken Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against Laguna Blanca as Milken made off with a 56-32 win. Winning may never get old, but Milken sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Milken got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Klein out in front who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Gavin Vogel was another key contributor, throwing for 111 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Milken has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 8-3 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-3 Faith Baptist and 7-3 Malibu (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.2% over those games). As for Laguna Blanca, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Milken will head out on the road to face off against Faith Baptist at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Baptist is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Laguna Blanca does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
