Recap: Telluride Miners vs. Dolores Bears

The Telluride Miners can finally bid farewell to their 27-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Dolores 36-33. Telluride's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Telluride to victory were Emma Reggiannini and Tjarn Lyons. Reggiannini dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Lyons scored 18 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lyons scored 15 or more points.

Telluride's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7. As for Dolores, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Telluride will be playing at home against Mancos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mancos presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Telluride in Colorado (Mancos is ranked 75th, while Telluride is ranked 312th). Dolores won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Ridgway at 12:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Ridgway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Wednesday.
