Baseball Game Preview: St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs vs. Mishicot Indians

For the second straight game, St. Mary Catholic will face off against Mishicot. The Zephyrs will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. St. Mary Catholic is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Monday just wasn't the day for St. Mary Catholic's offense. They came up short against Mishicot on Monday, falling 6-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Zephyrs were not able to get on the board.

For Mishicot's part, the result came thanks to Nolan Sand's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, Sand is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Jax Vogel was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mishicot's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Quinn Sand, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Mishicot and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for St. Mary Catholic, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. St. Mary Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mishicot struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
