Baseball Recap: Somerset Academy Takes a Loss

Somerset Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 4-1 to the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly three runs.

Somerset Academy got a good showing from Julio Cardoso, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Cardoso gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Jon Mora was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Somerset Academy's record is now 8-10. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Panthers coming up. Dwyer will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Somerset Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Ferguson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
