League recap: Lodi climbs in state rankings

North Jersey - Colonial recap September 17, 2013

Lodi moved up to 134 from 212 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in North Jersey - Colonial. The Rams climbed the ranks as a result of topping Saddle Brook 41-20.

Elmwood Park was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Crusaders triumphed over North Arlington 43-22.

Emmanuel Appiah and Emmanuel Appiah gave Lodi a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Appiah threw for 32 yards, while Appiah ran for 130 yards. Teammate Tommy Potoczak added to the ground attack by rushing for 137 yards.

Appiah and Appiah gave Pat Tirico's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.

Noel Lazo was the best wideout in the league this week as Rutherford fell to Waldwick/Midland Park. Lazo racked up 5 receptions for 96 yards.

Appiah put up the best numbers through the air as the Rams bested the Falcons.

Appiah was the most successful running back in North Jersey - Colonial this week.

The Bulldogs' Nick Birchby and Lazo have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Birchby has thrown for 139 yards this season, while Lazo has 5 catches for 96 yards. Lodi's Potoczak leads the league in rushing yards with 137.

As it stands, the Rams are in first, while Garfield is in seventh.

Manchester Regional fell to Queen of Peace 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
